Bone Grafting Procedures
In cases of tooth loss that has been present for a longer time, it’s common to have too little bone available in certain directions for placing a dental implant. In such cases, we may need to increase the volume of the jawbone using different bone grafting (augmentation) techniques. Although there are several types of augmentations, they all serve the same purpose: to build up enough bone to allow dental implant placement. During your personal consultation, after evaluating your CBCT scan, we’ll explain in detail which procedure is the most suitable for you. Every case is unique, thus your treatment plan is created based on your specific anatomical features. A special form of bone grafting is when before removing a tooth, we use a CBCT scan to assess the surrounding bone structure, and if necessary – based on our finding – we perform an alveolar ridge preservation procedure at the same time of the tooth extraction, to help prevent the need for more extensive bone grafting in the future.
